Oh darn, you beat me to OpenWall. It's one of the earliest attempts at securing the Linux mess that many forget about. Solar Designer deserves some credit for his effort. Modern stuff, esp hardened RHEL or Gentoo, is far better option due to maintenance if nothing else.
