I agree with the article and that this is archaic, but find it very strange how this person gets on a soap box... only to screw over everyone in the end using ports under 80 in the proposal (I guess nobody needs SSH?). If anyone is going to go through this work of changing the default unprivileged port start point hopefully they would just start at 0.
