Have you considered just calling Herman Miller or Steelcase? They should be able to give you a definitive answer on the weight limits for their chairs.

Steelcase makes some great stuff. I have some vintage steelcase chairs that could easily handle someone large and will last forever.

I had one of their chairs, the gas cylinder went out, and nobody could or would fix it. I was disappointed.

That is a shame. The chairs I have are from the 1960s and have no moving parts. I expect them to far outlive me.
Perhaps their quality has gone downhill over the decades.
